The Idaho Falls Pride board is dismayed and devastated by the US Supreme Court decision to reverse Roe v. Wade. This unprecedented decision marks a dark day for women, LGBTQ+ people, and Americans as a whole. The reproductive freedoms for women, non-binary people, and transgender folks are under siege and access to safe healthcare for Idahoans is dwindling.

In a concurring opinion, Justice Clarence Thomas said that in striking down the legal basis for abortion, every other decision using the same reasoning is now suspect and should be revisited by the Supreme Court. This threatens previous landmark decisions by the Supreme Court regarding the right to legally obtain contraception, the right to same-sex intimacy, and the right to same-sex marriage.

The rights of our entire community hang in the balance.

While this is a frightening and trying time, Idaho Falls Pride stands behind our community and will continue to do so. Please register to vote, stay vigilant, and have your voices heard.
